Living Room Lamps

Living room lamps shape how your space feels in the evening, from soft background glow to focused light for reading. This range brings together several lamp types so you can build a layered lighting plan instead of relying on one overhead source.

How to choose lamps for your living room

Start with the job each light needs to do. Think about the placement first, then the style.

  • Floor lamps: suit corners beside a sofa or armchair and add height without taking up table space.
  • Table lamps: work well on side tables, consoles and sideboards for a warm, low glow.
  • Wall lamps: free up floor and surface space and can frame a sofa, mirror or artwork.
  • Ceiling lamps: provide the main general light for the whole room.

Mixing two or three of these types at different heights usually gives the most comfortable result. Place a floor or table lamp near your seating, then add a wall or ceiling light for overall brightness.

If you want to refresh the look of a lamp you already own, browse our lampshades to change its shape, colour or the way it diffuses light.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we’re asked most

How do I know if the size is right for my room?

Every product page lists the real dimensions in centimetres, with a reference point to help you picture them. Our tip: cut a piece of cardboard to the diameter of the light and hold it up to the ceiling. Above a table, allow 70 to 80 cm (27.6 to 31.5 in) between the bottom of the light and the tabletop.

Still unsure? Send us your room’s dimensions and we’ll advise you.

What if the light doesn’t match the photo?

We describe every design exactly as it is: dimensions, materials (including when there is plastic), and whether the bulb is included. If the product you receive doesn’t match its description, it counts as not as described: we replace it or refund you, and we cover the return postage.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. At checkout, choose the pay in instalments option offered: your order total is then split into several payments, subject to approval by the payment provider.

The number of instalments and the terms (minimum and maximum amount) are shown clearly before you confirm. Any questions? Email us at contact@theglowlighting.com.

How long does delivery take?

Your order is prepared within 1 to 3 working days, then delivered in 7 to 12 working days by tracked delivery. Delivery is free, with no minimum spend.

Is it difficult to install?

It depends on the design. Table lamps and floor lamps simply plug into a socket. Pendant lights, chandeliers, ceiling lights and wall lights connect to the wires in your ceiling or wall, or to a plug-in ceiling connector, once the power is switched off at the fuse box.

Our installation guide takes you through every step; if you prefer, ask an electrician to fit it — the technical specifications give them everything they need.

Are bulbs included?

It’s stated in the technical specifications of every product (“Bulb: included” or “not included”), along with the bulb base. When bulbs aren’t supplied, the base is usually a standard one (E27 or E14) that you’ll find in any DIY shop.

Can I return a product?

Yes. Damaged, faulty or not as described: return at our expense, with a replacement or refund. If you simply change your mind, you have 14 days from delivery to send it back, unused and in its original packaging; in that case, return postage is at your expense.
